The Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, in collaboration with Google, summons the 55th Reina Sofía Prize for Painting and Sculpture 2020, an award that for the first time opens to the participation of any artist in the world in these two disciplines.
This international award is the only one of these characteristics that is awarded in the world and has already become an indisputable reference in the field of plastic arts.
The winners in previous editions were the prestigious painters Jorge Gallego or Juan José Vicente and the sculptors Coderch & Malavia or Pedro Quesada.
The 55th Reina Sofía Prize for Painting and Sculpture is managed by the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors and counts for its development with the invaluable support of Google. The deadline for submission of works is closed on February 7, 2020.
The jury’s decision and the award ceremony will take place at a gala chaired by S.M. Queen Doña Sofía in March, coinciding with the exhibition of the works selected for the occasion, which will take place in Madrid’s Casa de Vacas del Parque del Retiro.
The Jury, chaired by the President of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, José Gabriel Astudillo and whose secretary is Mª Dolores Barreda Pérez, General Secretary of the AEPE, brings together prominent members of the academic, cultural and artistic world as the journalist Javier Sierra, the painter Eduardo Naranjo and other artists such as Alejandro Aguilar Soria, author of the visual image of the Prize.
