Published the bases of the V Drawing, Engraving and Illustration Hall of the AEPE

The Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors has just published the rules that will govern the V Drawing, Engraving and Illustration Salon, which will be held from November 2 to 15, 2020, in the Exhibition Hall of the Nicolás Salmerón Cultural Center, expressly assigned for the occasion by the Municipal Board of Chamartín, a call that is open to artists, whether or not they are members of the centennial entity.

The deadline for sending photographs ends on October 16, and with a free theme, both the drawings and the illustrations will be made on paper using any of the drawing techniques: pencil, charcoal, graphite, sanguine, pastel, chalk, marker pen , pen and ink. Measurements for drawings, engravings and illustrations will have a minimum of 30 cm.

In 2016 the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors convened for the first time the Drawing Room of the AEPE, which was a resounding success.

With this Salon, we seek to make it through the universal language that drawing represents, one of the ways to enhance the artistic manifestation of painting, through the emergence of a high representation technique, the base of all plastic creation, in an exhibition of selected works, following strict criteria of quality and excellence.

In addition to drawing, engraving has also been a technique widely used by artists, which we are trying to recover and raise to the level it deserves. And the same goes for illustration, drastically reduced by any exhibition presence, which must occupy its space and which we would like to dignify.

The Drawing, Engraving and Illustration Hall of the AEPE, therefore constitutes a great event, an excellent opportunity to present the talent and quality of all artists and has two awards specially instituted to honor the founders of the century-old entity and to finish recognizing the importance of this appointment in the entity’s exhibition calendar:

The Marceliano Santamaría Sedano Drawing Medal, the Francisco Esteve Botey Engraving Medal and the Eulogio Varela Sartorio Illustration Medal.
