Inaugurated the 56 Contest of San Isidro de la AEPE

On May 7, the opening ceremony of the 56th San Isidro Contest of Madrid theme took place, the works of which are exhibited in the La Lonja Exhibition Hall, from the Casa del Reloj Cultural Center of the Arganzuela District Board, until the 16th. same month, and in which a total of 51 works are exhibited, among more than a hundred of those presented to this contest organized by the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors.
The inauguration ceremony was chaired by the President of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, José Gabriel Astudillo, who was accompanied by the Vice President, Juan Manuel López-Reina, of the Secretary General of the AEPE, Mª Dolores Barreda Pérez, of the Members Antonio Téllez de Peralta, Paloma Casado and Carmen Bonilla Carrasco, as well as a large group of partners and friends who did not want to miss this event.
At the opening ceremony, the jury minutes and the awards ceremony were read. On this occasion, the Jury was chaired by José Gabriel Astudillo López, President of the AEPE and Alicia Sánchez Carmona, President and Member of the AEPE, respectively, acting as President and Secretary of the Jury, both with voice and without vote; and as Members, Fernando de Marta Sebastián, Librarian, Ana Martínez Córdoba, Treasurer, Itziar Zabalza Murillo, Adviser to the President and by Enrique López Sardón, painter and partner chosen at random.
According to José Gabriel Astudillo, President of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, the interest of the Board of Directors that presides over supporting this traditional contest of Madrid theme, led two years ago to the creation of another award to complete the Medal of Painting Antonio Casero, for which his equivalent was created, the Luis Benedito Vives Sculpture Medal, both founding partners and outstanding artists to whom homage is paid, in addition to the Honorable Mentions that the Jury has deemed appropriate.
The watercolor titled “Andamios Madrid, La Cibeles”, original by Cristina Agulló Tecles, has obtained the Antonio Casero Sanz Painting Medal.


The iron sculpture entitled “Madrid futuro”, by Julio Nuez, has been awarded with the Luis Benedito Vives Sculpture Medal.


In addition, the jury has decided to award three Honorable Mentions to the following works:
“Meninas”, by Naná Messás


“El maestro Velázquez”, by Felipe San Pedro


“Relieve de toro”, by Antonio Téllez de Peralta

Called the 56th Plastic Arts Ceremony San Isidro de Madrid of AEPE

The Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors has convened the 56th edition of the traditional San Isidro Fine Arts Contest of Madrid Theme, to which all artists residing in Spain who wish may attend.

Each author can attend the contest with as many original works as he wishes, being the unique theme “MADRID” (its streets, fountains, buildings, etc.) and the technique will be free.

The contest includes the sections of painting (drawing, engraving and watercolor) and sculpture The minimum size will be 50 x 50 and the maximum of 150 x 150. Each work presented will bear the author’s name, address, title, technique employed and the measures.

The following prizes will be awarded: ANTONIO CASERO SANZ PAINTING MEDAL, endowed with AEPE Medal and Diploma, LUIS BENEDITO VIVES SCULPTURE MEDAL, endowed with AEPE Medal and Diploma and Distinct MENTIONS OF HONOR, endowed with Diploma. The Qualification Jury may grant the Honorable Mentions that it deems appropriate. The jury, which will designate the award and order of the prizes, will select the works for the exhibition and will be able to resolve any eventuality not foreseen in the bases, will be made up of experts of recognized prestige.

The awarded and selected works will be exhibited in the month of May in the “La Lonja” Exhibition Hall of the Casa del Reloj Cultural Center. Pº de la Chopera, 10 of Madrid, and the awards will be presented at the inauguration ceremony, from which date it will be conveniently informed.

The dates to be taken into account will be the following:

Photo submission: until April 12, 2019

Physical works presentation deadline: Tuesday, April 26, 2019

From May 27 to 31, 2019: withdrawal of works from headquarters

Inauguration and awards ceremony of the 55 San Isidro Contest

The Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors delivered on May 8 the prizes corresponding to the “55 Contest of San Isidro of Madrid theme” organized by this centenary entity, in an act attended by many partners, friends and the general public, and in which was also proceeded to the official opening of the exhibition, although it has been open to the public since last May 3.

The inauguration and award ceremony was chaired by José Gabriel Astudillo López, President of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, who was accompanied by Mª Dolores Barreda Pérez, General Secretary of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, Alicia Sánchez Carmona, Member of the Board, Fernando de Marta and Sebastián, Librarian of the AEPE, Ana Martínez Córdoba, Treasurer of the AEPE, Itziar Zabalza Murillo, Adviser to the President and numerous public, partners and friends.

The participation of this call that reaches its 55th edition, has been very high and the quality of the work presented has also been at the level of initial expectations, presenting an exhibition that as a whole stands out for the excellent quality of the works, what denotes the desire to overcome the participants to make this call one of the great examples of the moment in the city of Madrid.

The President of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, José Gabriel Astudillo, wanted to thank the Madrid City Council, the District Board of Arganzuela and the Casa del Reloj Management for their interest in supporting the artists and highlights that in the shows are exhibited works of the best contemporary artists of the Spanish art scene.

Before the death on the morning of the opening day of the exhibition, the sculptor and friend of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, Julio López Hernández, the President of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, José Gabriel Astudillo, wanted to have a I would like to remember that he collaborated so much with the centenary entity, for which, he begged the attendees to observe a minute of silence, which only broke the emotional applause of all the attendees.

Some partners and authors have wanted to participate despite the fact that their works did not meet the requirements established in the bases, so some of the exhibited works do so in the non-contest category. In addition, there are many other participants who, not being partners, exhibit their works, but have not been eligible for the honorary prizes, reserved exclusively for members.
