The Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors delivered on November 7 the prizes corresponding to the 85 Autumn Salon organized by this centenary entity, in an act that took place in the Casa de Vacas of Buen Retiro Park, in the exhibition of works that will continue until Sunday, November 25.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition, which consists of a total of 76 works, among the awarded and selected works, was attended by the President of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, José Gabriel Astudillo, Vice President, Juan Manuel López Reina , of Mª Dolores Barreda Pérez, General Secretary, all the members of the Board of Directors, Alicia Sánchez Carmona, Antonio Téllez de Peralta, Paloma Casado López, Carmen Bonilla Carrasco, Fernando de Marta and Sebastián, Ana Martínez Córdoba and the Presidency Advisor, Itziar Zabalza Murillo, as well as the sponsors of the contest, the Maxam Foundation Patron, José Vicente Moreno Huart, as well as its Communications Director, Lucas Ferreira, of Dolores Chamero, of the Madrid City Council, José Luis Manzanares and Óscar Pozas de Frutos, from Tritoma Cultural Management, Javier Romero and Javier Pérez, representing the City Council of Getafe, Teresa Ramos Grosso, Direct of the Baluarte Hall of the City Council of Tres Cantos, Alan Hernández and Montaña Vázquez, of Encuentro Real Estate, Miguel Ángel and Mª Luisa Codina, of the Codina Sculpture Foundry, Ricardo de Arce Bilbao, of the Spanish Association of Watercolourists, and Enrique Gil, José Luis Rodríguez, José Manuel Chacón and Belén Padilla for the Down Madrid Foundation, as well as Luis Javier Gayá, author of the visual image of the 85 Salón de Otoño.

Also present were some of the members of the jury gathered for the occasion such as Alejandro Aguilar Soria, Paula Varona, Ricardo Sanz and Tomás Paredes.
Only the sculptor Santiago de Santiago, who was traveling these days, Santiago Romero, of the More Hispanic Cultural Association, who had already closed a concert and Rosa Martínez de Lahidalga, also for personal reasons, excused his attendance same as Eduardo Naranjo.
Yes, there were also members of honor such as Ana Rubio Pablos, and numerous partners, selected from all corners of the national geography especially for the Autumn Salon, as well as a very high number of public that could not access the Assembly Hall of the Casa de Vacas, for having a limited capacity of 125 people, and who patiently waited for the departure of all those who were there, to discuss and discuss the awarded and selected works.
Despite the adverse weather, and as always happens when the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors opens an exhibition at the Casa de Vacas del Retiro, on several occasions had to close access to the Center, due to excess capacity, opening the same as it was being evicted, which gives an idea of the tremendous success and great expectation that the Autumn Salon always raises in Madrid.
The presentation of the event was the responsibility of the Secretary General of the AEPE, Mª Dolores Barreda Pérez, who addressed the audience to remember that “the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors treasures 108 years of history. Thanks to calls like the one that brings us together today, we continue to celebrate years. From the Board of Directors we only want to thank partners, friends, the general public, sponsor, collaborators and institutions, your total support to our continuous work for the benefit of art and artists. Since 1910, 108 years later, we continue to do culture. To all, thank you very much. ”
Afterwards, and as it has been traditional, at the inauguration ceremony the honorary award was given annually by the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors. The General Secretary requested the ascent to the stage of the Codina family as a whole, and so did Mª Antonia del Amo and Mª Luisa and Miguel Ángel Codina, proceeding to read the designation:
“The Board of Directors of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, meeting in ordinary session on June 5, 2018, has unanimously agreed to grant the title of HONOR PARTNER to the Codina Foundry,” whose human values managed by the brothers Maria Luisa and Miguel Ángel Codina, have made this traditional workshop, the most prestigious in Spain, an impressive nursery of sculptors united by the knowledge and sensitivity of traditional techniques. His special contribution makes this entity an exemplary model that has been a witness and protagonist of the sculpture of Spain in the last three centuries. They have the honor to pass on the knowledge and the science of the authentic artisans of sculpture in bronze to the lost wax, whose examples flood the streets and cities of the whole world. The close collaboration that the Codina Foundry has maintained for years with the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors contributes to the realization of exemplary artistic activities that make both institutions a first class cultural reference “”.
The President of the AEPE, José Gabriel Astudillo López, presented the title of Honorary Member to Mª Antonia del Amo and Mª Luisa and Miguel Ángel Codina, who addressed some kind words of thanks in which they said they were very honored for the honor received and tremendously united to a century-old institution such as AEPE, with whom they are collaborating so closely and with great success.
Mª Dolores Barreda Pérez, also wanted to remember that for the third consecutive year, and “thanks to the special collaboration of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors with the ASSOCIACION CULTURAL MORE HISPANO, a Concert Cycle of the Autumn Salon, of music has been programmed Spanish from the twelfth to the twentieth centuries, played by the best musicians of the moment, who throughout the month of November and the Casa de Vacas, will put the soundtrack of this great art festival that brings us here today. In this way, we tried to emulate the first Autumn Salons, in which all kinds of cultural activities were programmed “.
Afterwards, the President of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, José Gabriel Astudillo, addressed a few words to the attendees in which he thanked his Board of Directors especially for the work done, making special mention of the continuous, constant and always effective work of the General Secretary, Mª Dolores Barreda Pérez, whom she described as the authentic “alma mater” of the centenary entity. He also highlighted the work of the Jury, the collaborating institutions, Maxam and its Foundation, as well as all the artists who make the event possible.
